GOODWILL NEEDS DONATIONS
The slow economy is hurting donations to Goodwill Stores. The need for used goods is up, but the supply is down. Goodwill is urging people to donate clothing, furniture and household items such as dishes, small appliances, curtains, books and cookware. Since Goodwill stores rely heavily on donated items, it has been especially difficult in recent months to keep the shelves and racks stocked.
Donors may drop off items at local Goodwill stores and attended donation centers located at many convenient locations throughout Connecticut. A Goodwill staff person will help the donor unload items and provide a donation receipt for tax purposes.
Donating and shopping at Goodwill has long been a fashionable and economical way to help people stretch their money as well as to conserve resources and save the earth. Proceeds earned by Goodwill stores help the community by supporting programs that offer a full range of vocational and support services to local people with disabilities and others facing challenges to employment and community living. Last year Goodwill Industries of Western Connecticut provided services to nearly 2,000 people.
A complete list of stores and donation centers is listed below.
