Goodwill Industries of Western Connecticut is holding an Open House on Thursday March 19,2009 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 165 Ocean Terrace in Bridgeport to showcase the expansion of its Community Experience Program for individuals with severe and multiple intellectual disabilities. This growing program now offers more equipment and a redesigned space to enhance the lives of individuals with profound intellectual disabilities, autism and psychological disorders.
The Open House will demonstrate and explain the program’s newest features to referral agencies, local schools and the community. The enhancements include a state-of-the-art sensory room as well as additional space for activities and new opportunities in the community. Staff will be available to answer the questions of those in attendance.
The program began in 1996, serving just four people. It currently provides daily community integration, social interactions and vocational services to sixteen individuals. With the new enhancements, there is now room for additional participants. For more information, call Peter at 203-581-5391. |
